Eating Disorder Groups

Nutrition is a key element to our wellbeing. At Pearl Health Clinic, we emphasize the importance of establishing a healthy relationship with food. We provide supportive and comprehensive care to help individuals and their families understand social and psychological forces that result in eating disorders. We are committed to lasting recovery.

Disordered eating (compulsive/excessive over-eating, bulimia, anorexia, over-exercising), negative body image, and debilitating weight are complex issues. These often result in painful isolation and overwhelming emotional and health difficulties. To facilitate healing, we provide integrated care to address complex social, psychosocial, and psychological issues associated with eating disorders.

Treatment groups:
  • Body-Balance – Fridays 9-11 am: A comprehensive recovery program for those who struggle with anorexia and bulimia. This program provides integrative care to restore a healthy relationship with food and body, as participants heal from feelings of helplessness and obsessions with food, avoiding “being fat”, dieting and exercise.
  • Well-being – Wednesdays 4-6 pm: Designed to help participants regain their wellbeing, as they uncover and overcome underlying psychological and social factors that fuel disordered eating. It is a supportive and integrated program for those who experience weight disabilities, have been unsuccessful in maintaining healthy weight with multiple weight loss methods and continue to slip into destructive binge eating and yo-yo dieting.
  • Mindful Movement Group – Mondays 5-6 pm
  • PTSD Recovery Group – Thursdays 4-6 pm (PTSD often co-occurs with eating disorders)

At Pearl Health Clinic,

We encourage youth (17 years old and under) who struggle with anorexia, bulimia or binge eating to seek help at the earliest stages of eating and weight difficulties, in order to recover sooner, and prevent what can be a long struggle with disordered eating and disabling weight.
